How to measure your product for a custom size

Measure the length, width and height of the product in inches. Add clearance for inserts and board thickness, usually a fraction of an inch per side. Send the numbers with your quote request, and we build the dieline around them.

Materials and Board Options: What the Specs Mean

SBS and C1S paperboard

A bright white surface gives a sharp full-color print. It runs from 14pt to 24pt. Lighter weights suit tuck-end retail boxes, and heavier weights suit structured retail and food boxes. It holds matte lamination, spot UV and foil cleanly.

Kraft board

Natural kraft comes in 200 to 350 GSM, depending on the structure. It looks sustainable without losing print quality, and it pairs well with red, green and white artwork.

Corrugated board

Flute type sets the balance between print quality and protection. E-flute is thin with a smooth surface, so retail mailers print sharper. B-flute is thicker, cushions better and stacks stronger, which suits heavier or fragile products. 

The ECT rating measures stacking strength in pounds per inch, so match it to your shipping load. For fragile items, ISTA transit testing standards are a useful benchmark when you choose boards and inserts.

Rigid board

Rigid boxes use 2 to 3mm greyboard wrapped in printed or textured paper. They hold their shape and tend to be kept after the product is gone.

Brand red is easy to get wrong. Pantone (PMS) matching locks your color, so this year's run matches last year's even when they are produced separately.

Finishes
